Christopher Vera

            she pointed

and covered me in

            a tide of jealous white spiders.

My anger struck her back

            with all the mass of the sun.

As I fell

            poisoned,

she lay burned.

Neither of us knew any spells of healing,

            so we did not speak

                        for the rest of the night.

Christopher Vera is the author of several books of poetry, most of which are still in his head, and none of which have ever been published. Vera's work has appeared in Ship of Fools, Shadow Poetry and the Magee Park Poet's Anthology.
