Night is my house and I am her king.
She answers my summons when we are apart;
Until death we are bound by a black velvet string.
Day's widow submits under my silken wing.
Succumb she does sweetly to my gentle art.
Night is my house and I am her king.
Alone in my chambers of mist, she will sing;
With a touch of my hand does our dark anthem start.
Until death we are we bound by a black velvet string.
All fear her shadow, but to me she is evening;
The stars are her eyes, the moon is her heart.
Night is my house and I am her king.
Round my finger her soul is wrought like a ring.
But when daylight returns, she will smile and depart.
